Two Fun Facts about Elvis

All hail the King of rock ‘n’ roll! From his music to his acting Elvis has enjoyed a popularity that still endures to this day, decades after his death. Here are two fun facts about Elvis that aren’t necessarily common knowledge.

Young Elvis nearly pursued other interests. Elvis got his first guitar at Tupelo Hardware in 1946 at the tender age of 11 years old. The young Elvis came into the Mississippi store with his mother, who wanted to buy her son a birthday gift. His mother wanted to buy Elvis a bicycle, but it was a rifle that caught the youngster’s eye… Eventually, a compromise was reached, and the boy and his mother walked out of the store with a guitar. 7 years later, at the age of 18, Elvis paid $4 to record his first record, which he presented to his mother as a gift.

The King died on his throne. While the precise cause of Elvis Presley’s death has long been the subject of speculation, one fact remains true, the King died on his throne, so to speak. Presley’s body was found on the bathroom floor in the seated position after apparently falling forward from the toilet. While a combination of drugs were found in Presley’s system at the time of his death, the re-opening of his autopsy in 1994 revealed that the likely cause of death was in fact a sudden and severe heart attack.
